SIDEWALK PROGRAM APPLICATION
Houston Public Works Sidewalk Program constructs new sidewalks and ramps along streets leading to schools, major thoroughfares and improves accessibility for people with disabilities*.

TYPE OF REQUEST
School Sidewalk Major Thoroughfare Sidewalk
ELIGIBILITY
  • Must be a new sidewalk construction
  • Must have acceptable existing right-of-way with no ditches, slopes, large tree roots, fences, walls or obstructions
  • Meets all guidelines of City of Houston Code of Ordinances Article III, Sections 40-83 & 84

    School Sidewalk
  • Students currently use the street to walk to school
  • Located within four blocks of a school
  • Does not include sidewalks around the perimeter of the school

    Major Thoroughfare Sidewalk
  • Located along a major thoroughfare with no sidewalks
  • Is not located in an area with proposed future reconstruction within the next 5 years by the City, METRO, County or State
